Linux, a very stable, flexible reliable OS (operating system) that can easly replace Windows OS and runs on any hardware that existed today.  As of this writing, there are more than a dozen flavors of Linux that you can purchase or just download online for free. 

Linux can handle your MS Word documents, MS Excel spreadsheets and MS Power Point presentations easly.   Linux, simply support them and also other formats that are compatible to the Native Linux and Unix operation systems too.     OpenOffice by Sun Micro is one of the standard software that you can download and use for personal purposes with Linux (read / write MS Office format).
