log on as root

   you need to log on as root, if not you will be prompted to enter the root password

Programs -> Internet -> Dialup Configuration

   click the Main Menu button and choose the above options.   

   two(2) windows open up simultaneously the first time you start the Dialup configuration

click next

   in the create new internet connection window, click the next button and select a modem

click next again

   The Dialup configuration tools scans your computer for modem.   

   when it finds one, the default is set to the serial port --- /dev/ttyS0 

click next yet again

    The phone number and Name window appears

Account Name and ISP phone number

    You can choose any name that you want for the account name.   

    You should also enter your ISP's prefix and area or country code if necessary in the appropriate text boxes as well

click next

    when you're done or finished filling the info, The user Name and Password window appears

Enter your PPP account name

    Your PPP (point-to-point protocol) account name and password are often different than your login account name and password.   

    You need to be authenticated by your ISP when you dial up and attempt to establish a PPP connection.

select ISP option

    select the Normal ISP option and click next if your ISP is not AT&T Global Network Services

click Finish

    The Internet connections window, which is grayed out (if there are NO accounts to show), comes to life and displays your new account
