Suggested Settings


The following are suggested settings for a standard LAN card connection and as follows:


terminal IP

    should be fixed type and this is your local PC IP value,

   ex.: 10.10.10.99

Subnet 

   should be fixed as well and uniform; 255.0.0.0

Host Name 

   should follow the format of : NAME.Network Name.ext

   ex.: acct.vinsky2002.net

DNS 1 

   domain name server is optional but, you can put a loop-back address will do fine.   

   ex.: 127.0.0.1

DNS 2 

   this should be a valid IP value, even if NO physical connection exist.

   ex.: 10.0.0.2 (suggested)

Network 

   this should follow the value assign as part of your Host Name.   

   ex.: vinsky2002.net

gateway 

   a valid gateway value is needed and this should be common to all connecting in the Network and the default value is set to 10.0.0.1 

   but you can set this to 10.0.0.3 

  

Try to look for and load Samba-Swat, this is a vital component needed and also include the Samba daemons as well for this purposes.....


To obtain a list of all existing printers on other Linux client terminals, you need to load the Mandrake 10.0 printer wizard and set the LAN or network host address to your network IP address group.


  ex,:

          10.*

      or

          192,10.*


  where 10.* is the network class address you have been using for your network.....
